All about eCards

MVLC is proud to announce that the new MVLC eCard now available to patrons. This card allows the card holder access to online resources provided by MVLC, the state of Massachusetts, and their home library.

Who is eligible?

Any Massachusetts resident who does not already have a library card from an MVLC library is eligible for an MVLC eCard.

How to apply.

Fill out this form.

The system will provide you either a full or provisional library card until it can verify your address. Regardless of the status, you will have access to the online resources.

After a successful submission of the form, patrons will receive an email at the address they provided, giving them their new barcode and PIN and more information about what privileges the card offers them.

Any exclusions?

If you already have a physical library card, you will not be able to get an eCard. You can continue to use your physical library card to access these online resources.

Staying on Trend

Pickleball is incredibly popular now, but do you know what it is?

Pickleball is a sport invented back in 1965 in Washington State by three dads whose kids were bored with the normal summer time activities (many of us can relate!). It combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and can be played indoors or outdoors. It’s versatility has made it extremely popular – so much that pickleball courts are springing up in vacant stores in malls!

Are you ready to get started? We can help with our pickleball kit!

Our pickleball kit has everything you need to get started, but beware – once you start, you will be hooked!

The kit can be reserved, as with all our other Library of Things items, for use. To find more information about our Library of Things collection, click here.

Outdoor Fun

Summer time is around the corner. Can you believe we’re only a month away from the official start of summer?

If you have any outdoor parties planned for the warmer weather, why not consider our collection of outdoor yard games?

Our yard games are part of our growing Library of Things collection.

With the weather getting better, patrons can reserve our new Historic New England and Mass Audubon passes to get outdoors and explore the beauty and history of our state. For more information, as well as to place an online reservation on a pass, click here.

Museum passes are funded by the Friends of the Newburyport Public Library. If you are curious about all the wonderful work the Friends do for the library and to get involved, visit their website here.
