The door to the Archival Center is open. Come in and begin your research. Walk-in Hours are subject to Library Staff availability.
Local History Research Assistance by Request
In addition to Walk-in Hours, you can begin your research by visiting the Reference Desk on the second floor. Research assistance by request is available during normal operating hours. Please note the following:
- Research assistance is subject to Reference Librarian availability
- Assistance is not available on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
- Research assistance concludes one half-hour before the Library closes to enable staff to properly put away any archival materials and complete library closing procedures

Location
The Newburyport Public Library is located at 94 State Street in downtown Newburyport.
From I95N
Take exit 86 and bear right onto Rt. 113 East, Storey Avenue.
From I95S
Take exit 86 and bear left onto Rt. 113 East, Storey Avenue.
Storey Avenue merges into High Street. Continue on High Street, take a left onto Green Street – the Superior Courthouse will be on your right. Follow Green Street one block, turn right onto Harris Street. Where Harris Street intersects with State Street, there is a municipal parking lot on the right. The Newburyport Public Library is on the left at 94 State Street.
